Job Description
The Nurse Clinician leads, coordinates and implements care, teaching and counselling to ensure personalised and cost-effective care is provided by nursing staff to residents in accordance with established policies and procedures, standards of nursing care and practices. Responsible for clinical practice and staff competency in the ward assigned.
You will need to:
- Carry out primary responsibilities and duties such as:
- Collaborate with Centre Directors and Nursing Team to facilitate the licensing of Nursing Home.
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care of residents with complex healthcare needs according to updated standards of nursing practice.
- Supervise and guide nurses and care staff to residents to ensure compliance to standards for complex and specialised care.
- Ensure residents care delivery is carried out according to established standards of care and practice.
- Ensure written policies and SOP is available and up to date to guide nursing practices.
- Ensure smooth transition of residents from acute to chronic care and back to community where possible.
- Facilitate the adoption of Person Centred approach in the care of the residents.
- Conduct nursing audits on nursing care standards and initiates strategies to resolve non-adherence issues.
- Direct and facilitate staff development, skills and competency upgrading through in-house training, approved online learning or formal education opportunities.
- Guide orientation/induction programmes and preceptorship for new staff.
- Facilitate the adoption of a new clinical management system and new technology to enhance nursing effectiveness and efficiency.
- Perform secondary duties as follows:
- Act as a resource person to the nurse manager in clinical nursing and nursing training matters.
- Promote evidence-based practices or nursing care delivery.
- Demonstrate awareness of current nursing and health care practices
- Monitor and analyze trends and changing needs of residents in institutional settings.
- Conduct quality improvement/research projects
- Champion training/quality improvement projects
- Contribute to performance appraisals of staff nurses, assistant nurses, nursing aides and healthcare assistants.
- Take on additional responsibilities or tasks as assigned by Senior Nurse Manager/Director of Nursing.
Qualification
You should:
- Have an Advanced Diploma in Nursing/Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or equivalent preferred (For Locally Trained Registered Nurse) OR
- Have a Degree or Diploma in Nursing with Board Pass (Professional Regulation Council, PRC) (For Foreign Trained Registered Nurse)
Other Information
It would be great if you:
- Possess knowledge of geriatrics or experience caring for the elderly (eg; being a caregiver or volunteering)
- Know multiple local spoken languages or dialects to communicate with senior clients
- Be people-oriented, willing to work the ground
