Job Description

The incumbent will proactively develop programs for residents for engagement, interaction and to actively build a conducive home culture.  Responsibility includes the development and management of volunteers, as well as to promote community outreach programs and organize regular programs/activities to enhance the residents’ well-being in their stay at the nursing homes.

  • Develop and implement volunteer framework and policy to attract, develop, retain and reward volunteers
  • Reach out to the community and corporate to offer opportunities to volunteer and promote volunteering (internally and externally) through recruitment and publicity campaigns
  • Interview, recruit volunteers and ensure that they are appropriately matched and trained for the volunteering services
  • Promote awareness of existing programs and services offered
  • Host visits for local and overseas academic community, as well as for corporate and community groups
  • Hold talks / dialogue sessions for the general public on elderly issues
  • Keep up to date with national volunteer/donor policies/direction and legislation and determine the necessary modifications needed to comply or align with them, where appropriate
  • Oversee and organize regular programs/activities/festive celebrations to stimulate and engage the residents, in an effort to enhance the residents’ well-being in their stay at the nursing homes
  • Keep up-to-date with best practices and incorporate them, where appropriate
  • Collate and compile related data for analysis and management reporting
  • Any other duties as assigned by Reporting Officer

Job Requirements

  • Degree or Advance Diploma in Social Work, Gerontology or Service Sector disciplines
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the social or service sectors or equivalent relevant experience
  • Hands-on experience in volunteerism
  • Good knowledge of the geriatrics and community services
  • People-oriented, willing to work the ground and possess strong administrative skills
  • Cheerful and outgoing personality
  • Strong written and spoken communications skills
  • Good presentation skills
  • Meticulous, able to prioritize and multi-task are essential
  • Multilingual including Mandarin and Chinese dialects an advantage
  • Appreciation and sensitivity to multicultural preferences and nuances an advantage
