Job Description

Job Holder is responsible to ensure personalized and cost effective care is provided by nursing staff to residents in accordance to establish policies and procedures, standards of nursing care and practices.  Responsible for the effective and efficient running of the ward/department assigned

Quality and Safe Care

  • Is responsible for the compliance of all nursing standards as stipulated by Ministry of Health and Singapore Nursing Board.
  • Leads quality assurance activities to monitor and evaluate the quality and appropriateness of nursing care.  Ensures quality audits and planned and conducted periodically.  Follow up with areas of corrective improvements.
  • Ensures written policies and procedures and work process are available and up to date to guide the provision of nursing care.

 Care Delivery

  • Monitor the smooth transition of the residents from acute to chronic care and back to the community, where possible.
  • Direct care of the residents to ensure compliance to standards.

 Staff Resources

  • Ensures appropriate skills mix and adequate manpower resourcing for all shifts and types of services.
  • Oversee the team of RN, EN, NA & HA under her charge
  • Prepares roster and daily staff assignment for the ward/department assigned
  • Supports the SNM in nursing home management and deputises her in her absence
  • Works with AHP on preventive and rehabilitative programmes for the residents

 Staff Development

  • Directs and facilitates staff development, skills and competency upgrading through in-house training, approved online learning or formal education opportunities
  • Oversees the orientation/induction programmes and preceptorship for all new staff

 Additional Responsibilities

  • Promotes evidence based practices or nursing care delivery
  • Demonstrates awareness of current nursing and health care practices
  • Monitors and analyse trends and changing needs of residents in institutional setting

Job Requirements

  • Degree in Nursing
  • Valid practicing certificate issued by the SNB
  • Valid BCLs certification
  • Preferably with two-three years’ experience in similar position in a nursing home / geriatric ward
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and management skills
  • Strong sense of integrity
  • Possess good inter-personal and supervisory skills
